I bet your front tire lasts a long time. Never touchs the pavement.

ooooohh yeah.
And I could have brought more!
Shortly after I got back someone stole the camo bag out of my garage, so you won't be seeing that this year. Can't remember what they got that was in it, but it wasn't much. I have another bag.
The load really only weighs in at about 70 pounds, it's just bulky. I still haven't decided if I'll bring the folding chair, I only needed that for the long wait in the Pentagon parking lot.
he bulky stuff was mostly the tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. Plus it's surprising how bulky raingear and a pair of shoes are.
I'll streamline as much as I can though, travelling light is so much easier. I am going to remove that front tire, Mike. Saves 20 pounds and considerable wear and tear. Edited by LaiKhe67tc - Jan-17-2011 at 1:51pm |

Sidewalk, I don't understand about the rain gear being bulky, You can get one from Harley that stuffs down in on itself and is about 5 inch's around and 2 inches thick, I have been using it for 6 years, no problem. If ya are camping then space must be a priority.

Sidewalk............I found a folding 3 leg stool. Fits in the side bag on the HD. Also found a metal one with a canvas seat that folds to about 1 inch thick.

Toothless..............G and I are at the Super 8. Just me and G at the present time. You are welcome to join us. If there is only one bed I am sure we should be able to get a rollaway or cot. No need for food or funds. This is just my way of paying it forward. I consider myself very fortunate and if I can help someone make the Run then that will be my personal mission in life. I will send you the motel info tomorrow.

Well now you gone and done it. I was feeling purtty good about my packin till you said that the weight of the load should be lighter than the bike. I had planed on takin 6 pair O socks, 6 pair O underware, 6 T shirts and six pair of pants. I guess now with me plus the clothes I'll have to leave everthing but the socks.

This will be my first year going to DC with the group. I plan on camping. Do I need reservations or can I just wing it and follow everyone else?

For anyone interested.I just booked a room at the host hotel in Tollison. This seems to be the cheapest rate for those of us campers that maybe need to stay at a motel instead of finding other lodgings.
They still have rooms in the block for RFTW. but sounds like they may be going fast.

Hootch......ah quick question? Is this the Tunner and Hooch or Hooch.....as in my favorite JD old #7. Seriously the man you really need to get in touch with is Laikhe67tc...What all that stands for I haven't a clue. He is the old pro as to camping out (heavy on the old0 Some on here call him Sidewalk. You can get a little help by going back in the forum a ways and reading some of the info he has already posted. Most of all, Welcome to the RFTW.Edited by Toothless - Jan-18-2011 at 6:38pm |

Now this year I have a Harley Roadking, money and two weeks off work so DC here I come.Anyway= Houtch as in the huts in Nam, then when I returned to the world it was all the Houch I could get my hands on to drink. Not so much the houch drinker anymore, oh a couple beers but give me a good cup of hot coffee. Thanks for the info, maybe we'll meet up and bump brain cells or something.

At this time, I am 50/50 on whether I can go or not.
"The Boss" says it's too much $$$$ right now.
The other boss... well... I don't have one as of Friday 1/14/11 so that cuts into "funds".
I'm scheming and plotting though, so don't count me out yet.
