Campers  Still working on sites. In some areas pickin's are slim. May advise to stay in a hotel at some stops.

For those of you thinking you want to make reservations at the KOA`s. My experiance last year was I reserved allot of camping spots to and from but found other accomidations when i called to cancel there was no problem but none of them gave me a refund the policy is 10 dollar cancelation fee but these are privately owned and they can keep your your full charge it is up to each KOA weather they give you a refund or not. Be carefull I was an FNG I will not make that mistake again. Camping was ok on the SR only one place that was bad and that was the camping at the Harley shop not so good I would recomend a hotel room at that stop.

Medicineman,  Welcome brother, I have camped  since 07.  Prado Regional Park has been free in the past.  But I do not see it on the list this year, we have always Moteled it in Phoenix and Las Cruces, In Midland the Oil Patch is nice camping around the pool is $6, I cannot say about Grand Prairie at Joe Pool Lake.  Monroe is free at the Shriners Lodge there have been problems each year in the past from broken shower to not letting the ladies shower, Mederian you know about, we like it there except for walking thru the sand to shower but it is free.  Chattanooga the camping is at the Hotel this year, I cannot speak on that one either.  Wythville is great, camping at the KOA $7.  Salem is free at the VA center, things changed last year and campers were put up in the Homeless Shelter beds.  In Arlington we have always camped at Burke Lake, it is $5 per night per person.  We like Burke Lake because of the atmosphere there.  Arlington Assembly of God has free camping, meals and shuttle.    Enjoy the camping we have.

CJ thanks for that valuable information.  May I ask why you motel in Las Cruces rather than camp at the KOA ?   Also, when I visited the Burke Lake website I see where you need to reserve the group camping area, is this something that has been done? If not, is that something that can be discussed and decided on in RC ?

Thanks again and I look forward to riding with you.

Some of the camping will have to be set up individually, but the rest of the time we should be able to just go as a group together.  There will probably be people on the run who will want to camp and will not have checked in on the forum, it would be nice to have it open for those people to have a place to sleep.

We should know where we're at with the arrangements within a couple weeks.

I haven't seen much on Central Route camping, not sure how they handle it.

Nighttrain  Will put you down. Found out just last night that some one donated the sites last year. If he decides too not do that this year  I got us covered for one area anyway

@ Tom C.  the Wythville KOA is set up by the State Coordinator.

@ Tom, we do not care for camping at Las Cruces, just prefer not to camp there.  Do not make reservations at Burke Lake.  For the Memorial Day weekend you just show up and the campground will charge you $5 per day per person, we love it there. In the years past M25/Hardcore has fed everyone in the campground.

@ Joe, if you have made a reservation for the Group Camping Site at Prado Regional Park, you better check with the State Coordinator to verify that they have not already made a reservation for the Group Camping Site.  Over the years the GCS has been donated and if I remember the GCS is about $600.  I would hate to see you get stuck with the $600 because you failed to check with the  SC of CA.

@ Everyone, Old Timers and FNG's we have State Coordinators that set up the events for us from Hotels/camping to gasoline stops to meals and many more things, that is what they do for us.  So remember to thank them for their great work.

If the state coordinators block a group of rooms at a hotel and they aren't used, we may loose them in the future.  Same for camping.  I recommend you check with the SC to verify they haven't already set up camping arrangements.
When in difficult situations I ask myself "WHAT WOULD CURLY DO?"

For those of you who do not know, Top Sarge lost her great husband, Vance.  She is one of the 4 SC's, 2 for the CR & 2 for the SR and has been under great stress last year and this year.  It is a huge undertaking to set up CA with all the events that are going on, Hotels/camping, the Tuesday Banquet, regular events plus the gasoline stops, Blythe lunch SR, etc.  This is a huge undertaking for them and they have been working since last year. So if you are wondering why you do not have enough info to suit your taste, remember we have over 100 days until we start down the Highway.  I know the info is forth coming... So be patient.

ChickenJoe..........just beat me to it. Before anyone commits themselves and their money to reservations in CA, PLEASE give the state Coordinators a chance to make the arrangements. I would hate to see someone get a bill for money spent needlessly.
Concerning the Animal Farm in Las Cruces, you can contact Dusty at jgb011009@yahoo.com

CJC  Your right found out that the sites where paid for last year. Just in case they happen not to be this year. The information I got from the park was they have 9, 20 person sites which equals to 180. If they are not donated this year the site rental is $ 60 per day per site.  If we have to 20 or more would be $3.00 per person ,  that is if it isn't donated. So I figure I'll just wait, like you said until I get there.
