want to welcome all the new FNG's that have signed up for RFTW 2011.  its good to see new blood , because--unfortunatley many of us are getting older and we have lost n are loosing family every year. we must pass this torch on and insure this mission continues. UNTIL THEY ARE ALL HOME AND ACCOUNTED FOR!!

Hello Shadow, Thank you for the welcome and thank you and the rest of the veterans for your service.  I am a NFG..registered to ride the central route..will be picking up the ride in Williams, AZ. Not a military veteran...but my brother on the wall...going to ride in his honor. I have been reading lots and lots of these post...Getting lots of valuable information from those with experience and knowledge. I remember seeing one post that stated 250 FNG's will be allowed to ride into Arlington National Cemetary for the laying of the wreath. How are the 250 selected...first 250 to get to a location...enter a drawing...be one of the first 250 to sign up? Would love to be one of the 250. Any advise?

I think the first 250 FNG's in Marymount University parking lot on Saturday morning is how it's decided.

tsharp , I think you are correct in priority being given to The FNGs that had rode the farthest.

I've been on the ride three years and it has been handled a little differently each year but it appears that the FNGs that rode the farthest were given priority. I didn't realize what was being handed out my FNG year so I missed it but I have seen the changing of the guard several times and whether you ride your motorcycle with RFTW to the wreath laying or witness the Tomb of the Unknowns on your own it is a must see. If you go on your own you will have more time to visit some of the other memorials and gravesites in ANC that are worth the time to see.
Just be sure to attend all the morning riders' meetings and you won't be left out.

Last year Route Coordinators passed out colored zip ties, first to FNGs that rode All The Way,then to the orther FNGs.

Oooohhhh!! Colored zip ties! Are our hands zip-tied behind our backs? This is getting really interesting what with the leather, a$$-less chaps and now zip ties! Embarrassed  Let's see, I'm riding as nav from TX to CA and then CA to DC. I'm the lucky swappee with Doc Maggie! Lol!

My swappees are great.  This is going to be a challenging ride just keeping up with these girls.

USAFChickie,  I'm glad SOMEONE is riding nav for Le Chauffeur......otherwise he'd go off somewhere swapping and he'd never get back on track.

DrMaggie,
Isn't that the truth? He and I better come up with some sort of spy-phrase so he knows it's me he's picking up in New Boston! He might pick up the wrong chickie and think she's me! Then swap the wrong woman in Cali... Oh dear...  Wink
