Very eye opening experience. I thought I was well indoctrinated as a 3 year PGR member. RFTW gave me the experience of a lifetime. Southern Route leaders are the greatest. Job well done. Look forward to next year.

my first year with the Run was the  most amazing thing i had ever participated in. the RFTW family and how they made u feel welcome and finding out--that there are people who do really care and act on it. after returning from DC that first year--it took me a month to process n recover from it all. such a wonderful feeling. and -as many will tell u today----we just cant describe it to u-   -U have to experiance it for yourself.

In 1997 I went to a Canadian Vietnam vets memorial ride in Windsor Ontario. I read about it in a hog mag. As a Canadian in 1968 I Vol. in the US navy, after passing the medical and answering all the questions I was asked to step into capt,s office .There I was asked 3 questions, first ,was I an objector to the Vietnam war,ISAID NO. two, If sent to Vietnam would I go, I SAID YES. The last question was where is my Visa??? I had no idea what he was talking about and he said go back to Canada ,go to us Embassy, get a visa then return for my basic training at great lakes. I did but never got that visa.  As the years went by I thought about that a lot ,not knowing that some Canadians had served in US forces. (35,000) during the war. I served in the cdn navy and AF, many times along side US service members from 68 to 71.After going to the 97 north run for the wall I was told about the US run for the wall,by Hal And Maddy. I talked a friend(old Bill) into going to it in 98,with me we rode 13 hrs south to Rainelle WV. We arrived after 10 pm, we were told to set up tents at the school. as we did a guy rode up and said welcome to the run. He was harley roger, and we have been friends ever since, in 99 I met the group in misoury, where I met a young navy guy standing there in a shirt shivering, with no chaps, no leathers, he rode with us to the wall that year. In early 2000 I get a call from roadgaurd ronnie, he wants to go ALL THE WAY in 2000 ? I said are you nuts? Im in Canada, your in Michegan(great lakes). But we did, and I have never regreted it , on that run I met people who became friends for life, we looked out for each other, and even though I never was an american service member they made me feel like I WAS FAMILY,
To any FNG rest assured that those of us that were FNG know that the frustration, the pressure, the emotions, all melt away, and that you will feel like family, just as I do........thanks to MY FAMILY, I too feel better about not being there,............

well this came from the rftw web site it shares my story pretty well

OUR FAVORITE “BISCUIT BOY” MAKES EAGLE SCOUT
Kyle "Biscuit Boy" LaFrenier, a young man close to the hearts of many of the RFTW family, has reached a major goal in his young life, the achievement of Eagle Scout on March 18, 2005. We are very proud of you Kyle and wish you many more great successes in your life!
Kyle lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is 15 years old and in tenth grade. He has been part of our RFTW Family since 1999. Kyle's dad served 14 years in the Army, where he led the soldiers of "Devil's Den Forward," the official field kitchen of Fort Riley's 1st Brigade,1st Infantry Division. In 1999, Kyle came with his dad's platoon to help make breakfast for
RFTW in Salina, Kansas. Kyle wore his Boy Scout uniform, and got the job of serving the biscuits. Biscuit's?........
Wonder why we call him "Biscuit Boy"????
At that breakfast in Salina Kyle not only got his nickname, he won the hearts of dozens of riders with RFTW, and Biscuit Boy and his family became a permanent part of the RFTW family.
Kyle's grandfather was a Korean and Vietnam War Vet. He always wanted to ride with RFTW, but health problems prevented him making the trip. During RFTW 2000, Kyle's grandfather was in Hospice and an RFTW Rider put Grandpa's name on the front of his bike and took him to the Wall with him. When RFTW reached DC, Kyle was with his grandpa as they watched CSPAN and they told Grandpa about his rider, HE CRIED! Kyle's Grandpa passed away
August 1, 2000. At his funeral in Logan National Cemetery, he received his well-deserved full military honors. Kyle remembers that he cried when TAPS was played, and he jumped at the 21 gun salute. In 2002, Biscuit Boy and his family met the Run in Colorado Springs, and accompanied the Run to Limon. While the rest of the family traveled on 4 wheels, Kyle put on his helmet and joined the pack as a passenger on R.C. Busha's bike, a ride that is a treasured memory for both.
For Kyle, (as with so many of us,) RFTW is not just a once-a-year event, but an extended family, and a passion that lasts all year long. In 2002, Kyle decided to be a part of the RFTW Mission in a very special way - by making Run For The Wall the beneficiary of his Eagle Scout project.
Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is an achievement that requires years of dedication to attain. In addition to earning at least 21 merit badges showing proficiency in many areas, ranging from first aid and Life-saving to communications, camping and citizenship, (all of which must be completed before turning 18 years old,) the rank of Eagle Scout also requires that each Scout plan, lead and complete a service project which provides a real benefit to the community.
For his service project, Kyle wanted to serve the riders and mission of Run For The Wall by providing lunch for the entire Central Route when the Run stopped in his home town of Colorado Springs. Kyle's proposal was approved, and he spent the following year planning all the logistics associated with feeding lunch to over 500 hungry bikers on a tight time schedule. He solicited donations of food and money, coordinated his efforts
with other Run supporters and the media, and provided leadership to a team of fellow Boy Scouts who worked together to make sure that the food was ready and everything was ready to go when RFTW rolled into town. Lunch was served without a hitch, and everyone raved at how well organized - and delicious - the meal was. It was a true
achievement. In addition to school, Scouting and many other activities, Kyle is also an off-road motorcycle enthusiast, and he's now working on rebuilding a street-legal motorcycle so that as soon as he has his license, he can ride along with RFTW.I'd be proud to have Kyle along with us, as his service to his Brothers and Sisters in Run For The Wall, and his devotion to the RFTW Mission make him an example of loyalty and commitment, and maturity beyond his years. biscuit Boy and his family plan to have their annual visit with RFTW as we ride through Colorado this year. If you're
riding with the Central Route, please keep an eye out for this handsome young man. If you haven't yet met Biscuit Boy, introduce yourself. Thank him for his support, and congratulate him on his impressive achievement of earning
Eagle Scout.
What a FINE YOUNG MAN you are KYLE!!!!!!!

I'm hurt!!!!  Have you forgotten Kyle riding out of the park on my Softail and me and Cookiemonster taking him on a hot ride that topped 85 mph (I think his first HD ride!)

Glad to hear he has done so well...he was a pretty little guy on the back of my Softy that year (and I still have some pics!)

Biscuit Boy, In 2007 at Limon I regestered you and got wristbands for the rest of your family.  At least I think it was 2007....You have done well my friend, and have grown so much since the first time you served me breakfast in 2005.  Thank you for your service, be safe and keep up the good work.

Bounce...Oh and that was not my name back then, that happened in 2007...something about dancing with semi's, or slaying one of them...awe heck I got lucky and bounced off a tractor trailer and lived to talk about it.
