    Posted: Jul-16-2012 at 10:55am

This is your monthly reminder for the Denver Area RFTW luncheon at Johnson’s Corner this coming Saturday.

Here is our proposed agenda:

1.       Pledge of Allegiance

2.       Invocation & table prayer

3.       Round table introductions

a.       Besides your name and etc, be prepared to tell one of your RFTW stories

4.       Rainelle planning (ideas etc)

5.       Jerry Hedke to provide details on our after lunch ride

6.       Open Discussions

7.       Closing

Time: Noon (Some folks start gathering as early as 11:30)

Place: Johnson's Corner, I-25 @ exit 254, east of Loveland, CO

We have the back room reserved and the north side door will be open for us .  All are invited, if you haven't made the run before this is a good time to meet and talk to folks who have.  If you have a friend who might be interested, bring him/her along.  We don’t care what you ride, be it a Harley or Honda or whatever, our mission is to support healing for veterans.

I challenge you to bring a friend who might be interested in RFTW.

Weather permitting we will conduct a ride.  We are planning a ride to visit the Boulder Viet Nam Veterans memorial.  If WX is bad we'll go via car or truck.

See yah all there,

Harlan (Whitebirch)

I will be there!

Target Parking Lot, south east corner I-25 and Arapahoe at 10:30 am?

Only 10 more months till the run. Too early to start packing? Ermm

Not sure I'm going to make this one either.  Looks like we are moving Ann down to the Springs for rehab (good news), but she can't make the lunch even in a cage as she is still classed as in-patient.  We'll see what August brings.
That said, we've already had discussions about next year.  She is focused and determined.  We'll get there.
We ride in memory of Arthur Staub - WWII Navy - USS Healy (DD 672) - 24 Nov 1926 - 5 Dec 10 & SSgt James Duane Foltz Sr. 26 Jan 1933 - 26 Jul 1969 -USAF - RIP our Fathers

As usual, I will stage at the 120th Ave on ramp to I-25 a little before 11:00am and will be monitoring CB channel 2.  All are welcome to join me there.  If those forming a group coming from the south (DocGrizzly, Vapors, et al) will give a shout-out on the CB as you approach 120th Ave, I'll (we'll) join up on the fly.

Late Update:  I won't be able to make the lunch this time... I'm picking up an extra shift at work on Saturday to cover for a co-worker.  But now, he'll pick up one of my shifts in late August which will allow me to make the Angel Fire Reunion... not a bad trade.

As expected the Colorado RFTW lunch was a good time reconnecting with friends and making new friends who are interested in participating in the 2013 Run.

After lunch we made an RFTW style ride to Boulder, CO and the Viet Nam memorial to lay a wreath.  Good feeling!!!

Soapbox:  As the Staging Crew Leader last year, I observed many riders slow riding from the gas pumps to the staging areas that barely had control of their motors.  Improper usage of friction zone and front brake was rampant.  I am making it a goal this year to encourage riders to take a rider safety course and practice, practice, practice.

There is a Ride Like a Pro course in Westminster, CO on August 5th that I plan to repeat.  Join me.   http://ridelikeaproco.com

See yah for lunch in August,
Harlan (Whitebirch)

Please let me know the date after August 5th. August 5th will find me enjoying the cultural events in a small town in South Dakota called Sturgis.

I do want to take some advance courses before May. Moving from my 750 to the Goldwing has changed my center of gravity. So please keep me informed as to any and all advanced riding courses coming up in the next 10 months.

I will be joining the run in California in 2013.

Thank you for a great meeting on the 21st!
Doc Grizzly

Easy,

This is "Curly" We meet the third Saturday of every month except May of course. Most get there at about 11:30 or so.
Next month we may have to change it because of the Veterans Event in Cripple Creek. We are talking about doing something down tht way.

Harlan will post it on this forum when we figure it out.

Hi Easy,
By any chance, are you the folks Bob and Merley told me about?  At any rate, to answer your question, we do meet on a monthly schedule at Johnson's Corner on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 12:00 noon(Except May and December).

However, our next scheduled RFTW Lunch is on August 18th, which is the same weekend as The Veterans Rally in Cripple Creek, so we are planning to do something different.  We are canceling the Saturday lunch at Johnsons Corner and instead have an early morning breakfast (place and time yet to be determined) on the north side of Denver.  Following breakfast we will ride RFTW style down I-25 to Colo Springs, pick up Hwy 24 and west to Cripple Creek.  Check out this  web site for activity details; http://www.theveteransrally.org.  Those that only want to spend the day can ride back home in the afternoon, those that want to overnight can do so.  I believe this is a good way to show our support for our troops and veterans.

Then, of course, we will be back at Johnson's Corner in September.

If you like,  send me your email address and I will put you on my Colorado RFTW email distribution list.

Regards,
Harlan (Whitebirch)
