If you've ever wanted a face to put in your mind, ever needed a reason for your committment to the "Run," or perhaps encouragement to keep going, please watch the below shown video.  It is a bit long, but you will never regret having spent the time watching it.  If ever there was a person to be the face of heroism, duty, honor and country, I don't think you'd find one better suited to that position than MSGT. Roy Benavidez.  See what you think.

Captain Ron,

You said it best,"If ever there was a person to be the face of heroism, duty, honor and country, I don't think you'd find one better suited to that position than MSGT. Roy Benavidez."

I am truely humbled. I was experiencing, Admiration, tears, laughter, ans Admiration while watching this! It is not enough.
I couldnt explain it to my wife.

I have the good fortune of being good friends with a Medal of Honor recipient [MAJ (R) Fred Ferguson].  As with all recipients I have met, Fred is humbled by the experience.  Those of you who have heard or know Fred may not necessarily think of him as humble.  However, when he talks about the events surrounding the incident he is extremely humble.  Fred unfortunately is still recovering from a near fatal accident, but it does not interfere with his efforts to spread patriotism and  pride.  These men deserve all the accolades they receive and much more.

I knew MSG Roy P Benevides when he was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS with the Big Red One in the early seventies.  I drank more than a few cups of coffee with Roy and shared more than a few experiences with him.  The machine gun round wounds were displayed there across his body.  Roy was one of a kind.  Unbelievable courage and unbelievable will to live.  I guess you can sum it all up by saying "He was a man you wanted by your side when you rode the river."  Ever proud, ever humble, ever upbeat; always a Texican - that was the warrior I knew.  He was a lot like another Texican I knew by the name of Cavazos.  I have nothing to add, just my personal admiration and respect.  Nighthawk
To those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know!

Thanks, Nighthawk, for your posting regarding Sgt. Benevides.  I would feel honored to know him personally, as I'm sure that you are.  To me, it's just humbling to know that such men walk among us. Thanks again,
Capt. Ron
