How about updates on those who were injured this year. At first we were kept informed then it just stoped. Just wanted to know how they are doing now. Thanks

Thanks for asking and thank you everyone for all the prayers.
Dale's brother was here supporting and helping and has now returned to Australia. Dale is in outpatient therapy for his broken bones and staying upbeat and positive. Marcia has been moved to "step down" ICU (room 325). I have not been to see her today but I hear that she is now breathing on her own (two weeks ago I asked the nurse if they were trying to wean her off the respirator and he said "NO WAY".....I think they thought she would never be able to go off!!) She opens her left eye and moves it around alot....two weeks ago her eye would open but no movement.... and she sometimes moves her foot when asked to. I ask her to squeeze my hand and she will squeeze with her thumb.....not a whole body reaction but a very specific thumb squeeze!! The nurse said that they are thinking the date to go back to Australia will be next week but nothing is decided yet. PLEASE continue prayers and WitchDoctor continues to send God's love thru Marcia's nervous system. I would love to know how Karen is doing.....I am out of that loop. Also prayers to fawrdawg's wife who has had a stroke...... |

Thanks for the update drmaggie.
As for Ann (now at day 34), she is coming along ever so slowly, making some form of progress every day. While not yet fully cognizant (still heavily sedated), I anticipate them doing a tracheostomy this Friday and perhaps coming off the vent Monday. She has been breathing unassisted (CPAP setting) for a week now. We're seeing more and more spontaneous movement in all extremities, but no movement on command yet. She is just too heavily sedated still. But that too will change when they get her off the vent.... Thanks to all for the thoughts, prayers and cards. Fortunately, I'm able to telecommute from her ICU room most days.

I talked at length with Karen Williams last week. She is in rehab in Denver and seems to be doing well. She has been up walking and taking therapy. An amazing upbeat woman, you'd never know she has been through what she has by talking to her. She seemed more concerned with the others impacted than with herself. When she heals a little more (a couple of weeks ?) then she can head home to Arizona. She is already excited about getting back to work at the VA. It is obvious in talking with her that what she does there for the Vets is a labor of love. I'm sure they are missing her.

Thank you all for the updates, our continued prayers for Ann, Karen, Dale, Marcia and all who wait for and attend them. We are all saddened by injury or illness to members of our family, and overjoyed at recoveries and improvements ~ gradual they may be, but blessings, nonetheless.

Marcia's wonderful, upbeat nurse asked me to please let people know that Marcia will be leaving for Australia in an ambulance jet on Sunday 11:30PM. She will not be able to have visitors after 9 PM so the crew can prep her. If anyone would like to organize a prayer circle...please let everyone know.
Dale must stay behind for now due to medical issues. Thanks for continued thoughts and prayers for all......

Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation. Thanks SheWolf
