I was setting alone yesterday, and the feelings we seem to keep inside , came back. This is one of the things I do, to fight those feelings. A very good person thought I should share

"FOR YOU MOM!"

I was just seventeen, when I said goodbye to my mother

I enlisted in the Army, because they drafted my brother

First Fort Knox Kentucky, then off to Berlin

Pretty damn exciting, this Army I’m in

To all good things, there must come an end

Viet Nam is where, the next months I would spend

It won’t be hard, I thought hunting VC

What I didn’t realize, they would be hunting me

That’s when it became, a game of survival

Who’d win the next battle, us or our rival?

Why some of us made it, others did not

The bullets missed some, while others were shot

To those that gave all, I will always be grateful

Not like our Nation, that seems much to hateful

Some will say I should hide what I’m feeling

But sharing with you helps with my healing

Now I’m much older, riding missions filled with tears

Wondering why, we have wasted all these years

Riding with the PGR, RFTW and others

I ride for those that can’t

 I ride for my “Mother!”

In Loving Memory of:  Harriet Geraldine Myers   August24, 1929 - June28, 1971

Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation. Thanks SheWolf

it was my great grand mother also that raised my mother then me.  she was an incrediable woman no electricty, or running water.  helped work the farm, cooked 3 meals a day on a wood stove, washed clothes on a board and hung them on a line even in MO winters.  always had time to help anyone sick, or needing help in the surrounding area. knitted socks for the soliders from wool she had shorn and spun.
