Anyone know about or have done business with this dealer. It shows to be about 10 miles from hotel.

John Burr Honda Yamaha
9008 Sierra Ave, Fontana, CA 92335
(909) 823-1338

The timing and mileage will work out for my oil and filter change while I am there. By having it done after I get to RC I will be able to go all the way and then back home before needing additional service. (assuming nothing breaks on the run).

Or recommendation of another Honda dealer in the area.

Thanks Big Red. Kind of hard to screw up an oil and filter change although it can be done. You gave me what I was looking for. I will give them a call and see if I can get something set up.

Papa:
If you're just riding from Arlington to Rancho to DC then back to Arlington, you should be able to do that without the need for an oil change in Rancho IF you use synthetic oil.  Mojo & I run around 6,500 miles each year - oil change before leaving and oil change when we return.  Check out the numerous boards where Goldwing riders are reporting 6,000 to 8,000 and some as much as 10,000 miles between oil changes with synthetic oil.

See ya in RC

Thx Wicked.

It has never had synthetic in it although that is a good thought. That would mean an early Change at about 43,000 before leaving though. I thought about RC just because the miles (45,000) when I arrive in RC would be about right. And then it would be due again when I get home.

Papa, you know this was coming from me. Go to that dealer and sell your Honda then go buy a nice Harley trike. HaHa. (also I ALWAYS use synthetic and have had great luck with it.)

HarleyRG

Not a good ideal.then I would be looking at 4,000 mile intervals unless they changed it from what my 2001 Road King was.

Mine says 5K - and Hairbrush said to tell you she LOVES her HD trike. We need you to have a reliable well oiled trike since you are going to be the tail gunner behind us.

Live in the area and have had several dealings with John Burr over the years.  Always did me right and I've never heard anything bad about them.  Have several friends who have worked there and swear by them - whether sales, parts or service.  I would not go anywhere else in this area.

I have found that either runs great. Let it ferment for awhile and you get double the power.........Exhaust stinks like @#$$#@though.

If you can't afford gas you can always afford rice. You get hungry just breath the exhaust fumes.

Thumbs Up

for klBrown53, Go to Walmart and get a gallon of Shell Rotella, in the Purple jug, change your oil before you leave for Rancho, and you will be good to go until you get back home. I've done this 6 years and my Goldwing runs great with 90,000+ miles on it.

Thx for all the suggestions.

I am leaning toward a do it yourself change with synthetic prior to leaving. Shell Rotella is a good suggestion Speedy and synthetic suggestion from Wicked is also a good suggestion.

Now, lets go............

Thanks Wicked and Speedy for your suggestions..........

I just changed the oil and fileter myself and used the Shell Rotella that Speedy suggested and now plan on going all the way round trip on this oil change (about 6500 miles) before changing again. I will never take it to the Honda dealer again for a $85 oil and filter change. My cost, even with a Honda filter was less than $40 and about 30 minutes of my time.

See you both in RC. Come up to SR trike platoon and say hi Speedy....

Amen, Papa. Been doing my own for 30 years. Whoever said riding motorcycles was economical never owned one. Parts are outrageous and service is astronomical. Mine only goes to a dealer for things I cannot do.

Papa, the dealer you are talking about in CA is great, we used them several years ago and they took care of us on a Monday, had a crew come in just for us.
Now we use Amsoil and we will change the oil when we get back.
See ya soon!
