You can only be an FNG one time Wink!   then you get to help all the other newbies, and make sure they don't miss anything.  You can help them with the roller coaster of emotions they are going to experience.

See, I told you guys.  I could register under a new name???  No one really knows my face.  Oh, I forgot. You need current drivers licence with M1, current registration, current insurance.  Any good forgers out there??

So far I have only been able to recruit six FNG's.  I may need all of them to help me when I am down. Ups, My bad. A biker should never say the word "down".  Sorry, but I still will have those pesky emotions.CryLOLUnhappyCryLOL  Bring on the roller coaster!!!

Cherry Boy and Top Sarge, I agree with both your statements.  Every time I go, I am totally emotionally depleted by the time we reach Arlington, but I do not want it to end.  Like
Top Sarge I get in lump in my throat just thinking about THE RUN.  I feel a deep obligation to RFTW and for those who it is dedicated.  By the Grace of God, I spent 31 years in the military and never served in a war zone even though I always continued to volunteer (the Army must have figured if I was crazy enough to volunteer, I was too crazy to go).  I owe a whole lot of gratitude to those who did go to the war zones and especially those who did not come back.

If you don't feel a roller coaster of emotions, then you are in need of a heart transplant.  to the FNG ladies don't worry about putting the mascarra on it won't be there later in the day unless it's tear proof.
But this isn't a party ride it's a mission, it's healing for our Vets' it's support for those serving, and awarness that some still have no closure.  Yes we have fun and laugh but we never forget it's a mission.  You will get more HUGS, prayers, and thanks you's than you can process in a day. It will be the fastest 10 days of the year, and when its over you will not want to leave as long as there is another RFTW family member there.

FNG's, you see a lot on here about this being a mission and not a Sunday ride. Please take that to heart. You are riding at hwy speed, 2 sec. behind another bike, that is behind 20 more in front of it.we urge all riders to take a safety riders course or the advanced rider course. We will do all that we can in leadership to help you and this I will tell you I do not care what your riding skills are before the Run, you will be much improved by the time we get to DC, you may not think it until the ride home but it is there. So please get out here and ride, practice as much as you can the hints you have been given here. See you in a few.

Aw, come on, you guys, you're killing me here. I'm already so excited about this ride I can barely stand it. How am I supposed to get through the next 96+ days if you all just keep stoking me up?

Yeah Top Sarge,
You can only be an FNG once; and it is one of those never-to-forgotten moments. And its strange how a somewhat ubiquitous button (proud to say mine is a yellow business card) becomes almost as valuable as a medal.
Still remember thinking that morning in 1997, "I'm going to the Wall with a bunch of vets"; but by the time I got to Barstow, I learned what the real meaning of Run For The Wall was about. Still unbelievable and unforgettable after 15 years. And a family you will have for the rest of your life.
FNGs; you will be getting the experience of a lifetime this May.
Welcome Home to all fellow vets, and welcome aboard all those who support the cause

@ Maddog4104.  I do SR, I am the registration coordinator and have been since they started the SR.  My first year I did part of CR then went to SR the first year they started it.  I love working registration, I love meeting all the riders and Welcoming them Home and to their new family.  I am blessed they keep inviting me back to do it again.   When I arrived in Ontario the first year of SR to do registration, forms weren't printed, no min-min assembled.  I questioned why everything was left to the last min.  I was then informed that it was my job as "Top Sarge" went from civilian to "Top Sarge" in 15 min and never went through boot camp.  When I was young enough for the military The hight requirement was like 5'6'. So I went into to nursing and worked at the hospitals.

@ maddog   Welcome home and to your new family.  Look forward to meeting you in DC and getting my Hug.   Most anyone who has been there before will know me.  I'm shy, quiet, timid.......  NOT.  I love my vets and don't care who knows it.  My dad (whom I never knew) was Army drove fuel truck,  and my late husband was retired USAF Master Blaster.   Hug

Very true, but FNGs are more than just welcome... they're desperately needed.  Many of us who have been doing this for a while are... how should I say this? ... getting a bit long in the tooth.  Personally, I plan on riding in RFTW 'til they shovel dirt in my face, but for some of us, at least, our riding days are numbered.  We need those younger folks, vets and non-vets alike, who will pick up the torch and carry it proudly, so that today's heroes, and those who are yet to serve, will continue to be honored and remembered.  This mission is too important to allow it to fade and die of old age.

Well I hope my FNG ride will be a sucess and even if I am able to say thank you to just one of you in person and shake your hand it will be worth it to me.  I am not a veteran but I love my troops and would do anything for any of them.  I understand the freedoms I have today are because of men like my father, my Grandfather, my boyfriend and all of you past, present and future!  I hope to have atleast another 30 years of riding and I cant wait for my son (7 years old) to be able to join us one day.

You are a kid again waiting for Christmas morning.

You check the forum atleast 10x a day looking for more information.

When someone says more info to follow... it seems like it has been days when it really has only been 5 minutes.
