Surely, you know why accidents can't be written about !    What was allowed to be disclosed in 1999 vs. what's allowed 13 years later?!    Come on....     whatever needs to be written about will be eventually done and done in the proper manner.

This week my father-in-law (who is a WWII vet with 3 Purple Hearts) was seriously injured in a car accident (see story I pasted below). 

As you ride, I am hoping you will think of him and hopes for a recovery.

Three-time Purple Heart recipient injured in I-35 crash near North Branch

NORTH BRANCH, Minn. (KMSP) -

Carl Ziebarth, an award-winning farmer and three-time Purple Heart recipient, was seriously injured Thursday night in a rollover crash on Interstate 35 near North Branch, Minn.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Ziebarth, 96, of Faribault, Minn. was southbound on I-35 when his Infiniti QX4 SUV veered off the road, hit a median crossover and rolled.

Ziebarth was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in serious condition.

According to an AgriNews article, Carl Ziebarth was born and raised on a farm 50 miles outside of Duluth, where he was paid $5 per ton to haul cabbage to a railroad car in the 1920s.

Ziebarth was drafted in 1941, and served nearly five years in the military before returning home. He earned three Purple Hearts for his service and sacrifice with the 34th Infantry Division of the Army National Guard during World War II.

Ziebarth received the Sustainable Farmer Emeritus Award from his peers in 2010 for his contributions to sustainable farming and teaching.

We rolled into the Arlington Virginia area about 2:30 yesterday to a cheering crowd. We where 500 plus motorcycles strong by the time we got here. Actually, we have seen cheering crowds all across America. We have seen overpasses completely filled with people waving flags, some saluting us. We have seen several small towns with populations of 8000 line the streets. We have had these small towns feed us, with one even doing our laundry. We have had single individuals out in the middle of nowhere on the side of the highway salute us. The Central route rolled in several hours after us with another 500 plus bikes.

It was a long and exhausting trip covering near 3000 miles in 10 days but it was worth it.

I often think that America is self destructing and near death. You only have to make this trip to see that the America I know and love is still here. There are patriots in this country the likes of which no country has.

Run For The Wall's final act will be to place a "Mission Complete" wreath at the Viet Nam Memorial today around 1:00pm. I will be there but this time to help my Brother's and Sister's in arms deal with their ghosts as they visit the Wall, some for the first time.

Remember all of us as we start home and remember Memorial Day on Monday and what it means.
